There is an article on the Shopify blog that lists twelve important trends for web design in 2018. Coming in at number 7 on this list is ethical design. I am glad to see it on the list.
Laura Hanlon from IBM is quoted in the article, “Small steps to consider the moral repercussions of one’s work might lead to more humane outcomes.”
I especially like to hear what another interviewee, Andy Beaumont, had to say:
“All the evil powers that digital designers use can also be harnessed for good. That reciprocity-reward cycle that you use to keep users addicted to your app? You could be using that same technique to keep people engaged with feeding the hungry.”
